Hello everyone!
I’ve read a couple of books these past few days and since some really stood out, I haven’t had the enthusiasm to write a review about them. I don’t know why that is though. But… I’m here with a review I couldn’t wait to write about! And…. for a change, it’s not a romance book!
The book I’m talking about is School For Spirits by Aron Lewes. This is the first book of the series and there are a couple more books with recurring characters. It ended with a closure so I guess you can call it a standalone too.

What's the Story About?
The book starts off with the spirit of a 17 year old girl, Leigh, watching at her corpse. She was crushed to death by a truck. She feels a bit lost until an Angel appears to take her Home. Home is the word given to paradise and it is beautifully described.
The catch is that life in paradise isn’t all leisure and play. She, along with the other recently dead Spirits, has to attend a School. It’s the School For Spirits where they are taught on how to become a Spirit Guide and help the mortal charges (people) assigned to them. They are to give field tests with the guidance of their instructors and get a good rating. Leigh is assigned to one instructor too and from there starts a journey of discovering herself after her death.
The book is filled with emotions and situations. Apart from being a fantastic fictional story based on the lines of afterlife, School For Spirits is strangely comforting.
Exploration of the Afterlife
Afterlife is a concept which humans usually try to dismiss. It can either be because of lack of interest or because we can’t accept something that doesn’t have strong evidence attached to it. Or it could also be that afterlife signifies something that comes after death and death is a touchy topic generally. As Leigh gets comfortable and accepting of her new state, she teaches the reader many lessons.
But the discovery of afterlife becomes a reader’s perception of it. And it is not entirely negative. There are cool things like manifestations, warping, time and even Gadgets! But one thing that stands out is that eventually, everything falls in place and that every event has either a direct or indirect connection to whatever happened before.
My Review and Final Thoughts
As for emotions, we can really witness some like love, friendship, disgust and sadness in this novel. Character emotions are given a due space in the novel but the doesn’t entirely revolve around them, rather focusing on the situational and meaningful aspects. The writing was fantastic. Smooth and engaging, sure to give the reader a feeling of connection with the characters.
Reading this book, I felt like I really was, in some way, a part of their happiness and sorrow, in their life (or rather, afterlife) and feelings. The book made me emotional and really really overwhelmed me. I was hooked and impressed.
I really do hope to read the other parts of the series too. I feel they’re going to be as good as this one.
P.S. there are lots of cool characters. One might be quite a famous one too 😉🤭
The book is available in ebook format on Amazon.
Until later, Happy Reading! 😄
